Course Overview
To prepare students for the Corvinus University State Business English Exam. This course is done with Gábor Szabó who prepares students for the written part of the exam while John Kowalchuk prepares the students for the oral and listening part of the exam.
Course Outline
- Introduction
An explanation of the structure of the exam and the marking criteria. Review current news topics. Explain methods and ways to prepare for the oral and listening part of the exam.
- Environment
Students will learn information and vocabulary related to this topic. Students will learn how to prepare for spoken summary (how to take notes) and also how to give a proper summary.
- Marketing
Students will learn information and vocabulary related to this topic. An explanation of how the ’presentation’ part of the exam works will be given. Students will deal with several articles relating to this topic.
- Labour Market
Students will learn information and vocabulary related to this topic. Students will deal with several articles relating to this topic.
- Telecommunications
Students will learn information and vocabulary related to this topic. An introduction to the proper way of doing a ’situation’ on the exam.
- Problems with the Hungarian Economy
Students will learn information and vocabulary related to this topic. A class discussion on this topic will follow the presentation.
- EU integration
Students will learn information and vocabulary related to this topic. Students will deal with several articles relating to this topic. Students will also practise ’situations’.
- Company structures
Students will learn information and vocabulary related to this topic. Students will deal with several articles relating to this topic. Students will also practise ’situations’.
- Students will give summaries of articles, practise situations and answer presentation questions. This will be done as group work with oberservation and advice from the teacher.

Course Overview
To prepare students for the Budapest Economics University State Business English Exam. This course is done with Gábor Szabó who prepares students for the written part of the exam while John Kowalchuk prepares the students for the oral and listening part of the exam.

For the ‘Exam Task Preparation’ the two lessons with John will prepare spoken and listening tasks from all topics that are on the exam and the two lessons with Filomena will prepare written exam tasks for all topics on the exam All topics that are on the exam will be reviewed and focus will be given to the topics that the students need improvement in.
